January 15, 2025
Topic

A general term for difficulty lifting the front part of the foot, sometimes called drop foot.

Self-care options include clearing floors of clutter, rugs and cords to reduce risk of tripping. Using fluorescent tape on steps and keeping spaces well lit also may help.

See a healthcare professional immediately for:

  • New weakness.
  • Sensory loss.

Make an appointment to see a healthcare professional if:

  • Toes suddenly drag on the floor when walking.
  • There is leg pain.
  • Weakness happens in the other leg.
  • Falls occur.
