Transplant rejection
February 18, 2026
When the immune system rejects a transplanted organ, limb or tissue.
Transplant rejection is a process in which the body's immune system rejects a transplanted organ, limb or tissue. The immune system attacks the transplant because it's foreign to the body.
Symptoms may be flu-like, and the transplant may cause pain and not work as it should.
Medicines that lower the immune system response may prevent or stop rejection.
