Joint dislocation

November 18, 2023
Topic

An injury where bone joints are forced out of their usual position.

A dislocation occurs when joints, such as shoulders, elbows or fingers, are forced out of their usual position. It often happens from a fall, an auto accident or while participating in sports.

The injury will temporarily deform and immobilize the joint. A dislocation may cause sudden and serious pain and swelling.

Prompt medical attention is needed to put the joint back in place, followed by several weeks of rest.
