Cancer of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus connected to the vagina.

Cervical cancer starts as a growth of cells in the cervix, the lower part of the uterus connected to the vagina. It's most often caused by a virus called HPV that's passed through sexual contact. Routine screening and an HPV vaccine can help prevent cervical cancer.

There may be no symptoms at first. When they happen, symptoms might include pelvic pain and vaginal bleeding after intercourse, between periods or after menopause.

Treatments include surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
