Alcohol withdrawal
June 13, 2017
It's not clear why some people experience more severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms than others, but it genetics may play a role.
Symptoms may occur from two hours to one to two days after ceasing to drink. They may include headaches, nausea, tremors, anxiety, hallucinations, and seizures.
Physical symptoms are treated with medications. Drinking behavior is treated with counseling and support groups.
