Self-care includes taking a timeout before speaking or acting. Relaxing activities, such as deep-breathing exercises, listening to music, or exercise, may help.
Seek emergency help if:
- Physically violent or threatening violence toward others
- Out-of-control behavior, such as breaking things or driving recklessly
Make an appointment to see a doctor if:
- Constant cynical, irritated, impatient, critical, or hostile feelings
- Frequent arguments escalate frustrations
- Anxious or depressed
