Biliary colic

Pain that happens when a gallstone is being passed and is blocking a bile duct. It typically comes and goes in a regular pattern.
Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve, others) may ease pain. Avoiding fatty foods may help prevent biliary colic attacks.
See a healthcare professional right away if:
- High fever.
- Severe pain.
- Yellow tint to the eyes or skin.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Sweating.
- Dehydration.
Make an appointment to see a healthcare professional if:
- Symptoms won't go away.
- Symptoms have a pattern of going away and returning.
