SSRI discontinuation syndrome

SSRI discontinuation syndrome refers to symptoms that may occur when a person stops taking SSRI antidepressants.
Symptoms can be flu-like and include nausea, sleeplessness, anxiety, and irritability.
It may be avoided by a slow reduction of the amount of antidepressant or by a switch to another SSRI drug.
