Topic

Dry eye that occurs when tears don't provide enough moisture.

Dry eye, also called keratoconjunctivitis sicca, happens when tears aren't able to provide enough moisture for the cornea or the membrane covering the white part of the eye, called the conjunctiva. The eye may become dry, red and inflamed.

The main symptoms are discomfort and sensitivity to light.

Prescription and lubricating eyedrops can reduce dryness.
